It is located in Dongyuemiao, Gongjing District, Zigong. Dongyuemiao Limestone was named by geologists Tan Xichou and Li Chunyu in 1933 based on a suite of limestone exposed here as a lithologic stratum of Ziliujing Bed. Later it was called as Dongyuemiao Member, the lowest member of the Lower Jurassic Ziliujing Formation. This member, 5-10 m thick, is dominated by grey shelly limestone and shelly debris-bearing limestone with a lens of quartzarenite at its bottom. It was formed in a high-energy lakeshore shoal environment.
