Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark Brought Natural History Classes Outdoors during the May Day Holiday

The 2023 "Museum Tours for Kids in Zigong" public welfare study tour of Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark was guided by the Zigong Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning, hosted by the Administrator Centre of Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark, and undertaken by the Yiqu Nature Conservation Centre. During the May Day holiday, it brought natural history classes outdoors, guiding over 40 students from Rongbian Town Central Primary School and over 20 teenagers recruited from society to visit the Jianshan Scenic Area and Aiye Ancient Town respectively for the exploration of natural wonders and cultural stories of Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark.

On 30 April, over 40 students from Rongbian Town Central Primary School visited the Jianshan Scenic Area. Natural science popularisation teachers guided the students to learn about the diversity of birds in Zigong and the ecological niche of different species through ecological games and nature exploration. They also guided the children to understand the safety hazards that highly transparent large glass panels could pose to flying creatures. Additionally, they introduced two practical methods for bird collision prevention, including 5×5 matrix stickers and large-scale pattern designs. Finally, the children renovated some floor-to-ceiling windows of Jianshan Nature Education Centre for bird collision prevention and shouted a slogan: "How to prevent bird collisions? Let's do it together!"

On 2 May, over 20 teenagers recruited from society visited the Aiye Ancient Town. From Shunhai Well Salt Wharf to Aiyetan via Laoyancang, the children strolled along the Xushui River under the guidance of natural science popularisation teachers. They became visitors looking for life in the Aiye Ancient Town, who combined the profound history with surrounding creatures to appreciate the vibrant vitality of "Bali Qinhuai" and the "First Rock Patch on the Ancient Road for Salt Transportation" in the present day. Finally, under camphor trees in the Tiangong Hall of Aiye Ancient Town, the children showcased the scenery around the ancient town with their brushes and interpreted the nature of their hometown.

Subsequently, the 2023 "Museum Tours for Kids in Zigong" public welfare study tour of Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark will continue the nature exploration in scenic areas and scenic spots such as the Qinglongshan Dinosaur Fossil Site and Shisun Valley to guide more teenagers in Zigong to discover the beauty of Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark.
