It is located in Guojiaao, Da’an District, Zigong. Guojia’ao Sandstone was named by geologists Tan Xichou and Li Chunyu in 1933 according to a suite of sandstone exposed here as a lithologic stratum of Ziliujing Bed. Today, it belongs to Ma’anshan Member of the Lower Jurassic Ziliujing Formation. Guojia’ao Sandstone, with well-developed cross or wave beddings and various ripples and 5-10 m thick, consists of yellowish grey siltstone and quartzose sandstone, and is sediments deposited in the environment of lakeshore shoal.
