Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark Included in National-level Yangtze River-themed Tourist Routes

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently unveiled 10 national-level Yangtze River-themed tourist routes. Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark is included in the tourist routes for unique landforms.

It is reported that by coordinating the culture and tourism resources of areas along the Yangtze River international golden tourism belt, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has selected nodes with outstanding significance, crucial influence, and major themes. Based on the idea of "creating scenes for culture, developing themes for scenes, and establishing routes for themes", it has integrated various parts to design 10 Yangtze River-themed tourist routes: culture of the river, UNESCO World Heritage sites, key water control projects and irrigation engineering, Red tourism, ecology, natural scenery, rural vitalisation, intangible cultural heritage, unique landforms, and urban leisure. These routes are designed to comprehensively exhibit the real, multidimensional, and ever-developing image of the Yangtze River, shape the overall image of the Yangtze River international golden tourism belt, and elevate the global appeal and competence of the tourism belt.

It is worth mentioning that Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark is included in the tourist routes for unique landforms. Route Composition: Sichuan (Xingwen UNESCO Global Geopark, Guangwushan-Nuoshuihe UNESCO Global Geopark, Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Yunnan (Dali-Cangshan UNESCO Global Geopark, Shilin UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Guizhou (Zhijindong Cave UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Hubei (Huanggang Dabieshan UNESCO Global Geopark, Shennongjia UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Hunan (Xiangxi UNESCO Global Geopark, Zhangjiajie UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Jiangxi (Sanqingshan UNESCO Global Geopark, Longhushan UNESCO Global Geopark, Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Anhui (Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark, Jiuhuashan UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.) - Zhejiang (Yandangshan UNESCO Global Geopark, etc.)

Zigong UNESCO Global Geopark encompasses sedimentary strata from the Triassic Period to the Cretaceous Period, showcasing the transition from sea to land. It features Jurassic dinosaur fossil sites and Triassic well salt sites, along with Spinulose tree ferns known as "living fossils". Incorporating Zigong's profound history and culture, it is a global geopark integrating scientific research, science popularisation education, sightseeing, and leisure. It includes famous scenic spots such as the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, Zigong Salt Industry History Museum, Colourful Lantern Museum of China, Shenhai Well, and Rongxian Buddha.
